The Osprey Volt 60 Litre Men's Hiking/Mountaineering Backpack exemplifies the adage, “less is more.” This elegant pack is simple, durable, and highly adjustable to comfortably accommodate various torso sizes.

Dual side compression straps provide load stability and the LightWire™ peripheral frame transfers the weight to your hips where a Fit-On-the Fly™ hipbelt easily adjusts up to three inches for a custom fit. In addition, the torso length has five inches of adjustment making this pack a shape-shifter capable of quickly adapting to many torso sizes.

The backpanel is made of mesh for ventilation and comfort during periods of high exertion—i.e. when you’re trudging up a south-facing slope carrying an overnight pack in the hot sun. Two mesh side pockets and a front mesh stash pocket combine with dual zippered hipbelt pockets provide a plethora of on-the-go storage options.

To expedite packing, the sleeping bag compartment is separate from the main compartment and the external sleeping pad straps are removable when you’re going ultra-light. Stow-on-the-Go™ Trekking Pole attachments allow you to quickly secure poles when not in use.

Outdoor Gear Lab Best Buy Winner

Not only is the Osprey Volt 60 our new OutdoorGearLab Best Buy winner, but we think that even price withholding, it's a rad pack. It is big enough for most backpackers going on 2-5 day long trips (longer if you pack lighter) and it has all the features that many backpackers are looking for - without many of the "extras". The Volt 60 is a top loading design with a sleeping bag compartment, external stretchy mesh pocket, a lid with a pair of zippered pockets, and a handful of smaller features. It's slightly lighter than average at 3 lbs 14 oz, and is one size fits most. We felt the Volt 60 had a respectable suspension, well-designed ergonomics, and comfortable shoulder straps. All this for a below average $180. Overall, we found this pack to be our favorite for the price and it was higher performing than several of the more expensive models on the market.
